“Did you hear the news, everyone is rocking tonight …” – Elvis Presley, 1954.

This January 8th marks the 87th birthday of Elvis Presley. The year 2022 is also the 45th anniversary of the king’s death. To commemorate both occasions, Graceland has organized a variety of events, concerts, special giveaways, exclusive merchandise, and more.

Elvis fans can look forward to:

Look at the king’s houseIf you’re one of the millions who can fall in love with the voice of the king, sign up for a live, virtual tour of Graceland. The two-hour guided tour of the 14-acre estate of his former home in Memphis (now converted into a museum) includes a visit to the meditation garden where he is buried. Conducted in a Facebook live format and streamed in real time, these live tours are hosted by resident Elvis historian Angie Marchese and offer a glimpse of things you could only see if you were actually visiting Graceland. Depending on which tour you take, you can take a peek inside Presley’s famous private jet, his cars and dressing room, or take a stroll through the entertainment complex, where exhibits and artifacts related to the singer are on display. The tickets also give you access to the Facebook page for a week, where you can ask about further interactions with Marchese.

Concerts and events

Graceland’s ELVIS 45 program marks the 45th anniversary of his death from 1977 to 2022. Priscilla Presley herself will appear at several of the events.

The first of the ELVIS 45 events kicked off this week on Presley’s birthday January 6-9, including an afternoon showing and singing along to the film Viva Las Vegas, a gospel dinner with Elvis gospel music and a concert.

Collectibles and merchandise

Along with the festivities, Graceland has launched “ELVIS 45: The Sapphire Collection” with a Graceland 2022 Annual Pass and a limited collection of Elvis’ 45 RPM singles in a collector’s case.

Visitors to Graceland (who tour on six selected days in 2022) can also pick up one of the 1,000 special Elvis 45 records with an Elvis 45 custom jacket. The giveaways on three of the dates will be special pressings with a unique A / B page combination not available anywhere in the world.

In the meantime, watchmaker Hamilton has reissued one of Elvis’ favorite watches: the Hamilton Ventura. Originally launched in 1957, it made a movie cameo on the king’s wrist in the 1961 musical Blue Hawaii.
