The New York City Department of Housing, Preservation and Development (HPD) has launched an affordable housing lottery for 225 units at River Crest Apartments, located at 1164 River Avenue in the Concourse section of the Bronx.

Available on NYC Housing ConnectHPD’s online portal, are 225 newly built units located within the boundaries of Bronx Community Board 4, which covers the neighborhoods of Mt. Eden, Highbridge, West Concourse, East Concourse, and Concourse Village.

Individuals or households who meet the income and household size requirements listed in the tables below are eligible to apply. The eligible income bracket is $15,429 to $132,400 and the eligible household size is one to seven people.

Qualified applicants will be required to meet additional selection criteria.

Applicants who live in New York City receive a general preference for apartments.

According to HPD, the apartments feature luxury vinyl tile and Caesarstone countertops with white appliances. There is also a free high speed internet connection in the unit.

Other amenities include assigned parking, shared laundry, high-speed internet, outdoor spaces, recreation room, security cameras, elevator, accessible entrance, and smoke-free environment.

The building is within walking distance of Yankee Stadium to the south, as well as Mullaly Park.

Restaurants, beauty salons and general grocery stores are all nearby.

The building has a “no pets policy” except for disabled seniors or guide dogs for the legally blind.

The building is accessible by metros B, D and 4 and by buses Bx1, Bx2 and Bx35. Tenants are responsible for paying their electricity bills.

Five percent of the units are reserved for people with reduced mobility and 2% are reserved for people with visual or hearing impairments.

Preference for a percentage of units goes to Community Board residents (50%) and New York City employees (5%).

Applicants requested to submit only one application per lottery. If you apply online, do not send a paper application and vice versa. Applicants who submit more than one application may be disqualified.
The deadline to apply is June 27, 2022.
