Garden tour with native plants
Visit jacksoncountymga.org/native-plants-garden-tour to take a virtual tour of 11 gardens to explore trees, shrubs, perennials and wildflowers native to our area. Included are an eco-restoration garden, a permaculture mini-farm, a small city garden, and more. Admission is free; Donations to the Jackson County Master Gardeners Association will be accepted. Virtual Tour of Historic Jacksonville
Historic Jacksonville, Inc. has created a variety of virtual trails to help you explore Jacksonville, a National Historic Landmark city. Watch two online videos – a 30-minute “Walk through History” virtual tour that takes you to 23 different sites, and a 45-minute “Jacksonville Historic Homes” video tour that visits 27 different historic homes, including the wooden 1855 Mathew G. Kennedy House, the 1873 Beekman House, and the 1892 Jeremiah Nunan House. Read two text-based virtual tours “Beekman Bank Nuggets” and “Mrs. Beekman Invites You to Call or the Walk through History blog to learn more about specific historic sites in Jacksonville. Author Talk – Michele Harper
Michele Harper will highlight the lessons she has learned in her inspiring personal journey of discovery and self-reflection as chronicled in her memoir, The Beauty in Breaking, on Monday, August 22 at 6 p.m. via Zoom. Her book talks about how each of us is broken – physically and emotionally, how we recognize those breaks, how we try to mend them, and where we go from there, as all equally crucial parts of the healing process. Liz Wiseman, author, researcher and business consultant, will present her latest book, Impact Players: How to Take the Lead, Play Bigger and Multiply Your Impact, on Thursday, August 25 at 9am via Zoom. Drawing on insights from leaders at top companies, Wiseman explains what the most influential players are doing differently, how small and seemingly insignificant differences in the way we think and act can have a huge impact, and why – with a little coaching – this mindset is available to everyone who wants to contribute at the highest level and do more meaningful work. Teens 13+ can participate in a quick live general knowledge game on the last Wednesday (31st August) of every month at 4:30pm using Zoom and the Kahoot platform. Log into the Zoom meeting to view the questions and respond on the Kahoot app or website. You don’t need an account to play, just the app and the game PIN that we receive during the Zoom meeting. Queer coffee house
The social group for LGBTQ+ communities and its allies meets every first Saturday of the month (September 3rd) from 10am to 12pm via Zoom.
